Welcome back to another blog post, today’s color in the Color Series is peach. Since summer is around the corner and spring is almost over, everything I decided to do the color peach. I feel like peach is really in right now, and it is a color that literally suits everyone. This series will be all about makeup and the next one will be about clothes! Hope you guys enjoy it!
How to rock the peach?
The Best Colors To Wear
Peach is a pretty tricky color, it is beautiful as well, but for makeup looks, it can be a bit tricky. But anyone can pull it off with just a couple of easy steps. I pretty much believe that what you wear has a great impact on the way your makeup turns out. And if you know me you know that I love to match my makeup to what I am wearing. In my opinion, the best colors to wear with a peachy look are peaches (obviously), orange, white, ivory, gold, beige, shades of browns and copper. I don’t really advocate wearing blue because I feel like the color peach does have a bit of an orange and bright undertone to it, so it does stand out on its own. Usually, when I want a color to stand out, I choose to wear the color opposite to it in the color wheel, but I believe that this color is already a statement on its own, and the peach and the blue won’t always a hundred percent compliment each other.
Slay Your Peach Lip
Peaches have so many different tones to them. I believe there is a shade that will suit every skin tone out there. I personally feel like a lot of people are afraid to wear color on their lips because they are afraid it’s “too bright”. But in reality, it all depends on the lip color you choose, and the entire makeup look, including the percent of oxidization of the foundation your wearing, the undertone of the bronzer your using, and the eyes to finally compliment the lips. Let’s start with foundation, always ensure that you are wearing the foundation with the right undertones for your skin shade. Figure out if you have a cool undertone, a warm undertone or a neutral undertone, and buy your foundation accordingly ( my next post will be an in-depth on figuring out your undertones). Some foundations naturally oxidize, which means they get a bit darker or turn into an ashy brown when exposed to the oxygen in the air. Knowing that your foundation oxidizes allows you to measure how dark you want your foundation to be initially. For bronzer and blusher, the best one that can compliment a peach look is obviously a peachy bronzer, my favorite peachy bronzer is the Kevyn Aucoin The Matte Bronzing Veil in Desert Days while my favorite blusher is Too Faced Sweet Peach Papa Don’t Peach Blush.
Quick Tip: If you don’t want to go out there and invest in a peach anything, you can make your own, by mixing your usual bronzer or blusher with a bit of a peachy eyeshadow. Just dip a smaller blush brush in both and apply to the perimeter of your face and the apples of your cheeks. And there you go, now you saved some money and can go spend it on other makeup!
Now let’s move on to the most cherished thing of all. The highlight! I personally love a peachy glow. There is something about this color that screams sunkissed skin and a glowy look. You can’t go wrong with highlighter, but I believe that the highlight that best compliments this look is more on the bronzed gold or coppery side.
Quick Tip: If you have a peachy shimmery eyeshadow, you can use that as a highlighter, there are no rules in makeup, just experiment!
Finally to the eyes. I just have to state this every time I do a blog post, but this is makeup and in makeup, there are no rules. But this blog post is what I personally believe looks best on me and a lot of other people (quick disclaimer). I believe that the colors used in an eyeshadow look that best suit a peachy lip are the same as the shades of colors that look best, mentioned above. But again this is makeup and you are free to do whatever look you think suits you, I am sure regardless you will rock it!
